1. Who you're agreeing with

Bluenose Mail is an Ontario sole proprietorship, based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. You can reach us at contact@bluenosemail.ca.

2. What we're offering right now

Bluenose Mail is currently in prelaunch. Reserving an address and paying a deposit does not create an active email account today. It reserves your chosen address and registers your interest while we determine whether to build and launch the full service.

3. The $5 deposit, in plain terms

You pay $5.00 CAD to reserve your chosen address at bluenosemail.ca.
This deposit is fully refundable at any time before Bluenose Mail formally launches. Email contact@bluenosemail.ca to request a refund and it will be processed without any questions asked.
If we do not move forward with launching the service, every deposit will be automatically refunded in full.
If we do launch, your $5.00 deposit will be applied as payment for your first 6 months of service at no additional charge.

4. What happens after the first 6 months

We do not automatically enroll anyone into paid billing. Nobody's card is charged again without them actively choosing to continue.

Your $5.00 deposit covers your first 6 months of service in full, with nothing more to pay during that period. Before that period ends, we will contact you and ask whether you'd like to continue at $2.00 CAD per month. If you do, you will need to actively confirm this and provide payment details again at that time. If you don't respond or don't want to continue, your account simply is not billed and no further charge occurs.

5. Your right to cancel

Beyond the refund terms above, Ontario law gives you the right to cancel an internet agreement like this one within 7 days of receiving a written copy of it, if we failed to properly disclose required information or did not give you a clear chance to review and confirm before you paid. We intend to meet these requirements, but this right exists regardless of what this page says.

6. Your personal information

We collect the username you choose when you reserve an address. Separately, when you pay your deposit, Stripe (our payment processor) collects your current, real email address, along with your payment details, in order to process the charge and send you a receipt. We use that email to contact you about your reservation and, later, about renewing your service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not scan account content to target you with ads.

7. Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms, we'll notify you by email before the change takes effect, and any change will not retroactively reduce refund or cancellation rights you already had when you paid your deposit.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada. Nothing in these terms limits any right or protection you're entitled to under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, or any other applicable law.
